Kewadin casinos’ online partnerships

Kewadin Casino Manistique MichiganMichigan

According to Allen Kerridge, Kewadin Casino’s interim CEO, the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians has partnered with GAN to bring a retail sportsbook to each of the five casinos, which would make it possible for guests to bet on sports while at the casino.

The partners launched their sportsbook at the casinos just before the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the pandemic, the casino closed temporarily, making it impossible to get the sportsbook off the ground.

All major sports have also been suspended, so it may be months until customers can experience sports betting at any of the Kewadin casinos.

Kewadin Online Casino

The CEO also announced that the tribe would offer online gaming, once again leaning on its partnership with GAN, as soon as it’s possible.

Currently, it is expected that online gaming and sports betting in Michigan will happen in 2021. Though online gaming and sports betting are legal in Michigan, the online aspect of the regulations that Michigan’s governor signed into law is taking some time to finalize.

There are many regulations that must be settled before casinos are allowed to conduct their business online. Online gaming could prove to be a highly lucrative business opportunity for savvy casinos that have made the right partnerships.

The interim CEO of Kewadin casinos mentioned that they would offer online gaming the first day that it is allowed.

Those who wish to gamble or wager on sports online will have a home in 2021.

The Kewadin casinos

Each casino provides its guests with something different. Whether you want to play slots, join a poker tournament or try your luck at roulette, the Kewadin casinos offer the full experience. The casino also has keno.

Guests can game, enjoy the hotel accommodations, eat delicious food at one of the many restaurants and more.

There are promotions and events happening every week at the casinos, so it’s best to check the website for the most up-to-date information.

There are also different offers for guests each month. The offers rotate, so expect something new every month. With the Kewadin Casino offers, you could save on hotels, the gift shop and entertainment, and even multiply your points.

Slot machines

Slot machines are available at every one of the Kewadin casinos, which offer a combined 2,200 slot machines for your enjoyment.

Northern Rewards Club

The Northern Rewards Club is the best way to make the most out of your Kewadin Casino experience. You can use points earned on your Northern Rewards Club at any of the five Kewadin casinos. You can redeem the points at any of the restaurants or delis, at the hotel or at the gift shop.

The Northern Rewards Program uses a point system that awards two kinds of points. Each type of point serves a purpose. Club points and tier points are the two kinds of points, and you earn both by spending money at the casinos.

Club points and tier points

The club points are redeemable for comps, entertainment, dinners, hotel rooms and much more. One hundred club points equals $1, and there are different ways to earn club points. For example, guests earn a point whenever they bet $4 in slot play or $8 in video poker.

Tier points are a bit different, and you cannot redeem them for cash, perks or any other goods or services. Earning tier points is the only way to upgrade your Northern Rewards Club membership. The higher the rewards tier, the more comps and other perks you have access to.

Kewadin Casino Manistique Mi

The Northern Rewards Club starts with the Green Card, but you can upgrade to the Silver Card as soon as you hit 1,500 tier points. The Gold Card and the Black Card are next. The former requires 7,500 tier points to earn, while the latter requires a lofty 35,000 points to earn.

There is a final card reserved for retired and honorably discharged members of the military, as well as police officers, firefighters and EMTs.

Members of the Northern Rewards Club can upgrade to the next tier at a certain time every month, depending on the points the guest has accumulated. Points are earned over a rolling six-month period, and members will be placed in the appropriate tier at the end of that six-month period.

Here is a small selection of discounts and perks:

  • Discounts on merch
  • Discounts on entertainment
  • Members-only comps
  • Invitations to parties and dinners
  • Free dinners
  • Free hotels

Executive services

Executive Services is another way that guests can earn comps, and it is based on consistent play at the Kewadin casinos. Guests could earn exclusive invitations to parties, food vouchers, skybox privileges, private golf lessons, gift ship vouchers and more.

Stop by the Executive Services Office in Sault Ste. Marie or St. Ignace to inquire about any of the comps you have earned.

Kewadin sportsbook

Kewadin partnered with GAN to open a sportsbook at each of the Kewadin casinos. The retail sportsbook is up and running.

Sportsbooks are now legal in casinos across the state due to legislation that Michigan’s governor signed in December of 2019. The law made it legal for casinos to have their own sportsbook, as well as online gaming and sports betting.

Unfortunately for the Kewadin casinos and other casinos across the state, the pandemic forced casinos to close. Kewadin opened its sportsbook just before the state closed down nonessential businesses.

In addition, major sports leagues went on hiatus, so there were no sports for people to bet on.

Online and mobile sportsbook

So far there is no set date as to when online gaming and sports can start in the state, but it is happening. Experts believe that online sports betting may begin in 2021, but no one is sure.

However, the interim CEO of Kewadin has stated on the record that it will be offering online gaming and sports betting.

The interim CEO went on to say that Kewadin Casino will offer its online services on the first day that it is allowed.

Kewadin Casino poker room

There is a poker room at the Kewadin Casino, Hotel and Convention Center in Sault Ste. Marie. It is the only Kewadin Casino that hosts poker tournaments.

Poker tournaments take place at various times throughout the month, so it is best to check the website for current information.

The poker room is open from Wednesday to Sunday, but the hours vary by the day. On Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, guests can access the poker room from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, the poker room is open until 4 a.m.

The Kewadin Hotels

Though there are five casino locations, only two Kewadin casinos have a hotel on-site. The Kewadin Casino, Hotel and Convention Center in Sault Ste. Marie, and the Kewadin Casino-St. Ignace have hotels.

Casino resort history

Kewadin Casino Manistique Michigan

The Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians opened its first casino in 1985 after the tribe’s board of directors voted to open a casino in 1984.

Soon after, in 1987, the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians opened the Kewadin Shores Casino in St. Ignace. That was followed by the opening of the other three casinos in 1994.

Kewadin Casino Manistique Michigan

The Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians was also majority stakeholders of the Greektown Casino up until 2010. The Greektown Casino faced some hard times during the 2008 recession, which led the tribe to file for bankruptcy. The tribe sold its shares of Greektown Casino, but held on to its other five casinos.

Plans were announced in 2012 to open a casino in Lansing, but the project quickly fell apart and was consumed by legal troubles. In the end, the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians did not open a casino in Lansing because the Department of the Interior denied the application to put the new casino’s land in a trust.

Plans for a new casino near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, which was to be built on a 71-acre parcel of land, were announced in 2014. The Detroit casino has not yet been built.

In 2020, the tribe made plans to have a sportsbook at each of its casinos. The tribe also announced that it would go into online gaming and sports betting as soon as the state of Michigan allowed it.
